Overview

Widefirth Cottages are set in the idyllic countryside of the west mainland of Orkney.  The cottages are set on a well managed farm where there are a small number of cattle and crops enhancing the wildlife diversity of the area.  Access to coastal footpaths is enjoyed by locals and guests where the magnificent scenery and wildlife can be viewed. 

Family, group and couple friendly
Due to the spaciousness and wide range of facilities on offer, Widefirth Cottages are suitable for couples or large family groups.  Letting of two cottages is popular with large groups looking to enjoy some time together.   

Children are very welcome and have proven to enjoy the countryside and learn about the farming way of life here.  For those rainy days, there is a wide selection of toys, games, books and films to enjoy.  For stress free travel, we can provide a range of baby equipment.

Walking and cycling friendly
There are local walks and cycle routes to suit all ages and abilities.  Bicycles can be stored in the secure shed available on site.  In order for you to make the most of your holiday, detailed maps, guides and binoculars are provided.  On farm, there are two coastal walks which take in stunning scenery.  A picnic area is provided. 

Fishermen friendly
Isbister Bay is an important area for sea trout fishing and is only 2 km away.  If you prefer to fish for brown trout, the main lochs of Harray and Stenness are only a 20 minute drive away.  Fishing on lochs in Orkney is completely free.  We can also make enquiries for the chartering of boats to take you to the best fishing spots.
